Get ready for a day that will truly bless your marriage!

Marriage Booster Topics and Schedule

The Marriage Booster Retreat begins around 8:30 am . As couples arrive they are welcomed by the staff, given name tags, pens, and a short pre-retreat survey.

Once all couples have checked in, the retreat team will officially welcome everyone, introduce the day, and give logistics of the retreat space. There will be a couple of non-threatening mixers to get the day started.

Throughout the day, couples will hear from various members of the Marriage Booster Retreat team on various topics pertaining to marriage relationships. Following each presentation, each couple will be given some couple discussion questions. They will have about 25-30 minutes to reflect on the presentation using the questions as a guide. You will not be asked to share with other couples.

The presentations and couple times are broken up with a variety of fun activities that will keep you moving and laughing. By the way, laughter is a big part of this retreat!

Based upon the research from past retreat couples, we have developed presentations that seem to have the most impact on marriages. These topics can include: Communication, Parenting, Love Languages, Intimacy, Money, and Expectations.

How much does the Marriage Booster Retreat cost?
Registration for the event is $75 per couple and includes all of the materials for the day and a box lunch.   It is our hope that every couple who would like to attend the Marriage Booster regardless of their ability to pay. Please contact us at for more information about a scholarship.

Who leads the Marriage Booster Retreat?

The Marriage Booster Retreat is a Christian marriage program that has been developed is led by Family Fest Ministries in Bloomington, Minnesota.  The retreat will be ld by nationally recognized speaker Pete Larson.  Pete is the Co-founder and Executive Director of Family Fest Ministries which strives to strengthen families and marriages through a variety of retreats and programs. Prior to starting Family Fest, Pete served as the youth and family minister at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Edina, and was on the staff of Youth Frontiers leading over 600 retreats for 5th through 12th grade students. He was also a host of The Wishing Well T.V. show at the Minneapolis & St. Paul Children’s Hospitals. Pete often speaks at church youth groups, conferences, and retreats. Pete is a contributing blogger at 1st Corinthians 13

How long does the retreat go?

The day-long retreat usually starts around 8:30am and ends around 4:30pm. These times allow for couples who have children the opportunity to get them cared for before they leave, and also to get back for dinner. Many couples who have attended the Marriage Booster Retreat have found it very beneficial to continue their retreat by staying at a local hotel, or finding someone to care for their children so that they could be together for the evening at home. Several of these couples have encouraged us to recommend this to future participants. This is something you may want to consider.

What if we have to come late or leave early?
We hope that you can make every effort to stay for the entire retreat. Not only for you to get the full impact of the retreat, but because it keeps the retreat running much smoother without interruption.

Do you have child care?

Unfortunately we do not. We have tried to keep the retreat at a length that is short enough so that couples can find child care.

Is it okay to bring a nursing baby to the retreat?
We would prefer that they make other arrangements for the baby. The retreat format is not really conducive to having a baby there as it can be disturbing to others, but it also takes away from your opportunity to get away.

How is the Christian Faith Incorporated into the Retreat?
We realize that couples are at various places in their faith, and we are very sensitive to this. We will incorporate scripture and the Christian faith into the presentations and materials. There will be times of prayer during the retreat. We will talk about the impact that faith has in a marriage. That being said, we have had many participants who do not have a faith background and they have told us that it was very comfortable for them.

What if we have to cancel our registration?

You have made a great commitment to yourselves and to your marriage. We truly hope that nothing interferes with your retreat plans. In addition, space is limited.  Materials and meals have already been purchased for this retreat and it is important that we fill every spot. If for some reason you are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible. If you cancel within one week of the start of the retreat (before Oct. 20), we would hope that you would make a donation just as if you had attended.
